Desktop or cloud accounting for home use?April 27 2017, 0 Comments
If you are looking for a way to manage and budget your finances you may be overwhelmed with all the decisions to make regarding which program/app to choose.
Being able to keep track of your income and expenses is really important when looking after your home finances and trying to budget. An easy to use accounting software package enables you to monitor your money and spot when you are going overdrawn.
Personal finances can be tracked with Cloud based solutions or Desktop based, some cloud based solutions are free, but contains adverts, some you have to pay for. You will need to choose a package that's right for you.
Here are some points to consider:
Portability- Cloud based solutions are great if you need access on the go. However, if you experience a drop in the internet you cannot not access your data. Desktop software will work even if the internet is down.
Security and Backups- You do not need to worry about backups with cloud based programs, the data is stored on a server...as long as you have an internet connection. Desktop applications make backups to your computer leaving it up to you to make external backups to a USB stick/drive.
Installation- Cloud based online services require you to log in via an Internet browser, so you need the internet and a username and password. With traditional desktop software you will need to install onto a computer/laptop.
It is also a desktop application with the ability to load your data onto our Online Server for extra protection. When an internet connection is not available, data will still be saved to your local computer and can be uploaded later.
Need to enter expenses while out and about or on holiday, no problem, we have a mobile app for iOS and Android users, which will sync back to the desktop application.
You can download a free 14 day trial of Home Accountz and email us if you have any questions.
