File Save Prevent

Postby jbarsalini » Fri Jul 09, 2010 8:09 am

I'm having trouble saving a file to a CD, although i can save it to my hard drive and to a memory stick. When I try and save it to a CD, it comes up with a File Save Prevent window and a message asking if the disc is read/write protected. It isn't and I can save other files to this disc including my old version 5 accounts files. Any thoughts? Thanks Jeanette

Here is a step by step guide of how to save Personal Accountz on to a CD:

Click 'Save' to make sure you have saved your file. Close the file.

1) You need an application such as 'Easy CD Creator' 'Roxio' 'Nero' etc.
2) Put your blank CD into the machine.
3) Fire up the application that will burn the CD for you (Nero/Roxio etc)
4) The application fires up... you see your CD there.. in the application... drag and drop your work file from the Personal Accountz folder into that area

The default path to the Personal Accountz folder on Windows XP etc is:
c:\Program Files\Personal Accountz
On a Mac it is:
/Applications/Personal Accountz

So you drag and drop the relevant Personal Accountz file from out of the above folder... onto the CD ready for burning

5) Press the 'burn to CD' button. The relevant Personal Accountz file should now be save onto that CD.

You will now need to install Personal Accountz on to the new computer. Once you have done this go to Help>Check for Updates and update to the latest version.

Place your CD into the new computer. This will open a new window.

Drag and drop your work file say onto the desktop - or somewhere you will be able to find it again.

Click on File > Open, navigate to the relevant Personal Accountz file (e.g. on the desktop) and carry on as usual.

If you happen to be using a Mac (I see Hannah has told you where your file will be on a Mac) you don't need any burning application just click on your desktop so that Finder is selected and from the File menu select New Burn Folder. This will create a "special" folder on your desk top. Drag any files you want put onto CD into this folder. Load a blank CD and open the burn folder and click Burn.
