Reloading Accountz Professional

Postby Antericuk » Thu Jul 29, 2010 4:51 pm

Suddenly my Accountz hangs at 'checking database upgrades 0%'. Running MacOS Snow Leopard. Has been working fine for months. I reload from my original CD, and try to update BAZ becos my backups are from a newer version. I log on to the update site to download the update and every few seconds the download stops, and I have to restart it many times before I have the complete package. On loading the update it wants to download it to a new MYOB folder on my computer. I thought MYOB were competitors!! I downloaded the update to find I have two versions of BAZ loaded on my computer. Version 1 is the original CD (not updated) version, and is of no use. Version 2 is from the MYOB folder which hangs at 0% loading database screen. What is going on?, and what is wrong with the update and its link?

The installer asks you for the destination to install to (when you first install), so I imagine at some point (probably early on) that was changed from the default. Then when we automated the updater, it is looking for a Business Accountz folder, updating that and ignoring where it was originally installed (evidently your MYOB folder).

The simplest way to resolve this is to telephone our support on 01354 691650 (normal office hours) and they will get you going again.

If you don't want to telephone, then do this:
1. Absolutely make sure you make a backup of your BAK folder (the one in your working installation). Check the date and times of your backups to make sure it is current.
2. Delete the Business Accountz installation in /Applications (drag the whole folder to trash and empty trash)
3. Reinstall from the CD and run it (but don't go through the setup wizard)
4. Go to Help >Check for Upgrade
5. Once the upgrade us done, open your installation folder and run BA Restore, and choose your last backup.
6. Make sure any shortcuts you have are pointing to your new installation
